Unit 1-2 Project (Optional)

Unit 1-2 Microbiology Project

Objective: The student will develop and execute a short-term research project using FoldScope microscopy and present in a lab report document.  All safety guidelines will be met, no human pathogens will be isolated (including mammalian samples and toilet areas), appropriate PPE will be used, and the project specifics will be discussed with the teacher for approval prior to execution (no later than 3/15/2021).   The following sections will be detailed:

Introduction: The background phenomena are detailed so that the project can be appropriately developed with APA support.

Question: A testable and approved question is present.

Hypothesis: A specific and educated hypothesis answers the question posed.

Control, Variables (IV, DV), and Constants:  All are defined in relationship to three trials of collecting data.

Materials & Methods:  The materials and methods used to execute your project are detailed.

Results & Analysis:  The data collected are presented in appropriately labeled tables and graphs (and stats, as needed) to explain trends.

Discussion & Conclusion:  The analyses are extrapolated to explain how the data align with the real world.  Further discussion with additional methodologies needed to adequately address the question are thorough and are relevant to expand the project (ie- content from Units 1-2 that can’t be performed without a lab space).
