I can retell a story in my own words.

In this lesson, we talked about sharing or retelling stories we have read before. When you hear a story you really like, you might want to share it with your friend. Even if you don’t have the book you can still retell the story!

One of the ways we can remember all the parts we need to tell is with our hand. Show an adult how we can use our hands to tell the parts of a story. Story Hand.docx

Everyone hold up your thumb. This is where we name the characters.
Next is our index finger. This is where we tell the setting of the story.
Our middle finger is where we tell how the story begins.
Our ring finger is where we tell something that happens in the middle of the story.
Our pinky finger is where we tell how the story ends.
