Music Appreciation Class Syllabus

 Welcome to Music Appreciation at Potomac Shores Middle School. I am Lisa Flowers, and I will be your teacher this year. I am hopeful that we can work together and have a rewarding and successful class.

Accomplishing this will require cooperation.

We meet on B – Blue days on Zoom. You will have to work hard independently and participate in class.

Student Learning Objectives:

Music appreciation is offered for every grade level. The class goal is for students to learn the fundamentals of music in order to gain an appreciation of music. Students achieve this goal by completing lessons and assignments that include multiple learning styles, allowing students with any amount of musical experience to succeed in the classroom. Students will learn how to read and write music, basic aural skills, different genres/styles of music, and different musical career paths. 

Guidelines for Success:

*Be responsible: Log in promptly. I teach a class that ends 2 minutes prior to our 10:08 start time. I will do my best to log on at that time. If I am running late, please wait. Attendance will be taken in the first 10 minutes of class. If you come in late, please send a message in the chat.

*Always do your best and listen. The only way you will learn about music is by staying attentive and participating.

*Do your best and don’t give up!  If you are having trouble or don’t understand an assignment, please let me know and I will gladly help you.

*Cooperate with others. Speak kindly to one another.
